What is an art commission?
An art commission is a custom piece of artwork created at the request of a client (you). With your special involvement, it allows you to get a personalized unique piece of art that fits your specific needs weather it’s a person, place, thing or special moment, that includes the perfect size, budget, color and technique for home decor, gift, project or business. Commissions are the perfect gift or piece of art you’ve been looking for.

PROCESS
PURPOSE:
Telling the artist what the occasion or purpose is, helps with overall feel of art.
Whether it’s Gift, special event or project, private or corporate collection etc.
SUBJECT:
Whether it’s a single or group portrait, montage, location, scene , special moment or event, car or sport etc, The artist will accommodate to just about anything in your mind. Kim will work from any of your photographs you have chosen as reference or he can photograph subject as well. He can also convert your vintage black and white to full color art. You and the artist will discuss VIA email if photo is of good enough quality for reference and style of artwork.
MEDIUM:
(oil, gouache watercolor, pastel , pencil , pencil & wash etc) Mediums and size reflect price as well. From a drawing at the low end to oil at the high end. You may contact the artist at this point to discuss options for your budget. Substrate surface in which medium is applied depends on medium chosen and size. is it recommended that a sample of style or Medium is chosen from artist portfolio.
SIZE:
Get the perfect size where the art will be displayed keeping on mind the addition of the frame size if any. Available from 8x10 t0 5ft. size does matter -the larger the art, more cost in time and material.
DUE DATE:
Allow ample time for process and artist scheduling
Decide the deadline. (Date when you need it delivered). Obviously pencil drawing is the shortest amount of time. Oil commissions take longer due to drying time and varnish.
APPROVAL PROCESS:
After agreement has been signed/down payment
1st approval of artwork via email
Preliminary digital layout/sketch is sent for mostly color and composition approval not style or medium
This is the only time of process ant minor revisions should be discussed without extra charge
No need for this step for commissioned pencil art
When artwork is completed, another email of image is sent, sign off on approval for shipment and final payment on private orders
CONTRACT/ENGAGEMENT:
A detailed contract for engagement from 50% deposit , discussions, copyrights, price and approvals to finished art, will be sent for signature by both the client and artist Kim Fujiwara (Fujiwara Art, LLC
